Firestopping
A firestop or fire-stopping is a form of passive fire protection that is used to seal around openings and between joints in a fire-resistance-rated wall or floor assembly. Firestops are designed to maintain the fireproofing of a wall or floor assembly allowing it to impede the spread of fire and smoke.
Two major categories in firestopping are Construction Joint seal and MEP through Penetrations Seals.
Construction Joints:
Construction Joints and settlement joints must be provided in every building structure. In order to avoid extreme crack formation and structural deformation, these joints absorb building and structural expansion and contraction. These joints require protection against the effects of fire. The different construction joints are:
- Head of wall joint: the joint formed between wall head and concrete floor.
- Wall to wall joint: The joint formed between adjacent walls.
- Floor to floor joint: The joint formed between adjacent floors.
- Perimeter joints: The joint between fire rated floor slab and façade.
Barrier solutions provides full range of construction joints fire seal with major firestop material brands such as 3M, HILTI, PROMAT, FISCHER, RECTOR SEAL, TREMCO, STI, FIREBREAK etc.
MEP Through Penetrations:
We provide firestop seals to support mechanical, electrical, and plumbing applications. The systems are selected to comply the project specification and QATAR CIVIL DEFENSE requirements.
